Students in Year 11 sit public examinations as part of their Key Stage 4 GCSE courses, all students are required to adhere to the JCQ (Joint Council of Qualifications) rules and regulations.  Failure to follow these rules can result in disqualification by the examinations board.

MSJ provides students in Year 9, 10 and 11 the opportunity to sit internal examinations using the JCQ external exam conditions.  These exams and assessments not only provide key data information but help our students to develop their examination skills and confidence in a controlled environment.

Please see the links on the left-hand side regarding advice to candidates and enquiries about external exam results.

Enquiries about Examination Results and Appeals

It is possible for the school to make an application for a re-mark on behalf of a candidate.

The school requires written consent from a student to make an application for re-mark for clerical checks and a review of marking.

An application can result in the following outcomes for the candidate:

  • Your original mark is lowered, so your final grade may be lower than the original grade you received.
  • Your original mark is confirmed as correct, so there is no change to your grade.
  • Your original mark is raised, so your final grade may be higher than the original grade you received.

Please see the schools Examinations Officer for more information and a consent form if you wish to proceed with an enquiry application.

Candidates must also be aware that they must fund any financial costs incurred.

If the initial grade is found to be incorrect and the grade is increased the school will refund any costs to the student.
