‘Premium Banking’ is a reward system that directly correlates between the student’s engagement, behaviour, attainment and standards. The system mirrors a bank account; pupils have a balance of points that can be spent on various rewards.
Students are awarded points for a variety of criteria including: attendance, punctuality, literacy skills, engagement in learning, and demonstrating positive community spirit.
Rewards available include: a menu of items from the canteen, popular items from the ‘PB One Stop’ shop, ‘On the High Street’ vouchers and trip tickets.
At MSJ, we believe it is important that students have complete ownership over their own rewards and bank accounts, as it promotes better student engagement in school life, making them feel empowered and rewarded for the progress they make both personally and academically.
In addition to our ‘Premium Banking’, students are also invited to attend rewards’ trips, breakfast celebrations and are entered into a raffle each half term.
Students who stop their own learning and that of others will not be allowed to disrupt the education of others.
Behaviour points demonstrate continuous poor behaviour – C1, C2 or C3. Students are always given the opportunity to amend and reflect upon their behaviour in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
The sanctions used by the school may be any or all of the following:-
Students must have their planners on them at all times. This allows all staff to acknowledge students who are demonstrating our school values and a good community spirit all throughout the school day. However, poor behaviour will also be noted. Staff will note this in the students’ planner with a date & signature; if a student receives four negative signatures in a half-term, they will be expected to complete a 45-minute after-school detention.
