Please look in the sections below to learn more about how we receive the Sacraments at Mount St Joseph.

Throughout the year, each year group is provided the opportunity to celebrate Mass, the source and summit of the Catholic faith together. Year 7s have the opportunity to celebrate the welcome mass to begin their time at MSJ. Year 8 and 10 celebrate Mass in the lead up to Christmas, and Y9 celebrate Mass in the lead up to Easter. Year 11s have the opportunity to celebrate their leavers’ Mass, drawing an end to their journey with us in our community of learners, believers, and friends.
Alongside these occasions. To provide a more regular opportunity for students and staff wishing to celebrate Mass together as a community, each term, an additional Mass is celebrated in the Chapel for any person in the school community wishing to attend. In additon, all holy days of obligation are celebrated as a community together through our House Assemblies

During Lent, the school partners with the local parish to provide students with preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This special time allows students to reflect on their faith and strengthen their relationship with God as they prepare to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Working alongside our local parish, the school offers opportunities for prayer, learning, and spiritual growth, helping students to understand the responsibilities of living as confirmed members of the Church. This collaboration culminates in the celebration of Confirmation at the parish church.

As a Catholic community, we ensure that alongside the celebration of Eucharist, we also provide an opportunity for members of our community to receive other Sacraments as part of their Journey at MSJ. During Lent and Advent, the school provides a Service of Reconciliation in partnership with the local parish, offering students a meaningful opportunity to reflect on their lives and seek God’s forgiveness. These liturgical seasons are times of preparation and renewal, and the service encourages students to open their hearts to God’s mercy through prayer and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our Parish priest visits the school to lead the service and hear confessions, creating a calm and reflective environment where students can experience spiritual healing. This tradition helps foster a deeper understanding of repentance, forgiveness, and the joy of reconciling with God and others.
