Home-School Agreement
At Mount St Joseph RC High School, we believe that the education of every child is a partnership between school, parents/carers and pupils. Working together within our Catholic community enables every young person to flourish academically, spiritually and personally.
As a Catholic Community, the school will:
- Promote the Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching, nurturing the spiritual, moral and personal development of every pupil.
- Provide opportunities for prayer, worship, celebration of Mass, retreats, liturgies and acts of service to others.
- Foster a culture of kindness, compassion, respect, inclusion and dignity, where every member of our community is known, valued and supported.
- Provide a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment where safeguarding is everyone’s priority.
- Deliver a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that enables every pupil, including those with additional needs, to achieve their full potential.
- Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour, attendance and personal conduct.
- Assess learning regularly, provide meaningful feedback and set homework that supports pupils’ learning and retrieval of knowledge.
- Promote pupils’ wellbeing, resilience and personal development, including teaching them how to stay safe, both in school and online.
- Keep parents informed about their child’s progress, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, and work in partnership to support success.
- Provide opportunities for parents to discuss their child’s progress and involve families in school life wherever possible.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies to provide appropriate support for pupils where required.
As Parents/Carers we will:
- Support the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
- Ensure our child attends school every day, arrives punctually and is ready to learn.
- Ensure our child wears the correct school uniform, follows expectations regarding appearance and brings the equipment needed for learning.
- Notify the school on the first day of any absence and work with the school to promote excellent attendance.
- Only request leave of absence during term time where exceptional circumstances apply, in accordance with government guidance.
- Encourage our child to work hard, complete homework, revise regularly and take pride in their achievements.
- Support the school’s behaviour policy and work positively with staff to resolve any concerns.
- Attend parents’ evenings and engage with communications about our child’s education.
- Inform the school promptly of any circumstances that may affect our child’s wellbeing, safety or learning.
- Encourage safe, respectful and responsible use of technology and social media.
- Work in partnership with the school to help our child achieve their full potential.
As Pupils, We Will:
- Attend school every day, arrive on time and be ready to learn.
- Always try our best and take pride in our work.
- Follow the school’s expectations for behaviour and demonstrate the values of the Excellence at MSJ principles.
- Treat everyone with kindness, respect and courtesy.
- Wear the correct uniform and bring the equipment needed for every lesson.
- Complete homework and revision to the best of our ability.
- Respect our school environment and care for school property.
- Use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully.
- Speak to a trusted adult if we have any worries about ourselves or someone else.
- Play an active role in our school community and make a positive contribution to the lives of others.
